Attention 8th Grade Families:
On Monday and Tuesday, members of our Emotional Support Team will present A Promise for Tomorrow during our 8th-grade Language Arts classes. This program is a youth curriculum focused on suicide awareness and prevention and is based on the film Choices from The Jason Foundation. You can view the film here:
https://jasonfoundation.com/choices-video/
The lessons will cover risk factors, warning signs, recognizing behavioral changes, how to support a friend, and how to seek help. We recognize this is a sensitive topic that may bring up strong emotions for some students. Our counseling staff will be available to provide one-on-one support for any student who may need additional care.
If you prefer that your student not participate in these lessons, please contact the school office.
We have officially completed IAR testing, and I could not be more proud of how hard our students worked. They did a fantastic job and showed great effort throughout the entire testing period.
Students who arrived late or were absent during testing will complete their make-up sessions next week.
I also want to remind everyone about our early dismissal incentive. Students who earned enough points for being on time, being prepared, and demonstrating strong effort will be dismissed early next Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12:15 PM. Students who did not earn enough points will remain at school until the regular dismissal time of 3:05 PM.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Purple Panther Families, please check out our first edition of The Purple Panther. Our community newsletter is funded by the Kilton Grant.
The Purple Panther exists because our schools have remarkable stories unfolding every day. This magazine is not about spotlighting a single achievement or moment, but about offering a fuller picture of the learning, care, and commitment that define our district every day. I hope you’ll agree that we have a story here at Litchfield that is well worth sharing.

The SLTC serves the same purpose as the BESS (Behavioral and Emotional Screening System) and will be used this spring in place of the BESS. This screening helps us better understand and support students’ social-emotional well-being.
Please check your email for a letter explaining the program. The letter also includes an opt-out form should you choose not to have your child participate.
If you previously submitted an opt-out form for the BESS, you do not need to submit an additional opt-out for the SLTC.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students.
