Litchfield Middle School track is off to a great start and continuing to set new school records! In their first meet of the season, the Panthers came home with hardware from the Gillespie Middle School Indian Invitational. The 8th grade boys’ and girls’ teams both brought home first place honors, as well as the 7th grade girls’ team. The 7th grade boys team finished 3rd. 14 teams total participated in this year’s Invitational.
Several new school records were set that day. Jaxon Ray broke the 200-meter record from 2004 with a time of 24.47; Brylan Marten broke the long jump record, held since 1973 with a jump of 5.13 meters; and McKenna Harmon broke the 1998 shot put record with a throw of 9.57 meters. Their 2nd meet of the season against Greenville, Pana & Patoka brought even more new records and wins for the Panthers! Brylan Marten broke his new record that he just set last week in the long jump with a jump of 17’4”; Jaxon Ray broke the 100 record from 2006; the 8th grade 4x200 relay team of Ryker Witt, Jalen Stewart, Andrew Boston & Jaxon Ray broke the record from 2010; Kilee Hoover broke the 200 meter record from 2017; Jada Carroll broke the 100 record also set in 2017; and the 8th grade 4x200 relay team of Kilee Hoover, McKenna Harmon, Adia Melchert & Jada Carroll broke last year’s record.
